Who underwrites the PSD policy?

All the Parrot policies are completely underwritten by PT Asuransi Tugu Pratama Indonesia Tbk.

Zensung specialises in the entire gamut of technology behind the Parrot policies. It has worked extensively in this area to launch commercially viable and thoroughly tested insurance policy underwritten by Tugu, Indonesia's leading insurer.

Do I need to install any hardware devices on my vehicle to use PSD or PSR?

A

No!! PSD or PSR do not need any tinkering with your vehicle!

One of the most distinguishing and customer friendly feature of Parrot policies is that, unlike some other Usage Based Insurance (UBI) policies, it does not require fitment of any additional hardware device in your vehicle. Needless to mention, a hardware device is an additional cost and a hassle to install and maintain. These devices need their own data connection which is another inconvenience and cost. 

Parrot policies are free from any additional hardware requirements. Your smartphone and the Parrot app are all it takes to enjoy all the benefits!

How is the Parrot How You Drive concept different from other concepts which use GPS or OBD II device

A

Parrot does use the GPS on the smartphone. However, it is a step ahead of other concepts which use GPS or OBD II. Parrot uses what we call a “Golden Copy” approach to recording the trip. In the Golden Copy approach the speed is calculated using the GPS as well as the smartphone sensors. Parrot uses AI and the smartphone sensors to cover up blind spots, if any, in the GPS data. In other words, the Golden Copy approach creates a near complete record of the trip overcoming any blind spots from GPS. This ability is missing in a typical GPS device or OBD II based concepts/applications.

How does Parrot rate my driving?

A

The Parrot analytics engine translates the data collected as you drive into a Trip Score. Parrot has developed a statistical model which creates a driver’s profile basis driving data such as speeding, acceleration, harsh braking, engine condition, car model, engine capacity and so on. The model considers 50+ parameters while computing the Trip Score.

Does Parrot app need to be "ON" for the trip to be monitored?

A

Yes, the Parrot app must be running in the background and should be having the necessary permissions for your trips to be monitored and consequently for earning your P-Rewards.

How does the phone usage affect my score? Is there a safe way to use the phone while driving?

A

The Parrot app logs a phone call as long as the car is in motion while you are driving the car and every call affects the score adversely.

To safely answer a phone call, bring the car to a smooth and safe stop at an appropriate spot on the road and only then answer the incoming call or make an outgoing call.

How are overspeed events identified?

A

The Parrot app monitors speed based on the speed limit on a given road OR the acceptable limit set by the local authorities. Parrot relies on the information provided by Google for such speed limits. The app monitors the speed in good and adverse conditions. It compares the actual speed to the speed limit database and shows overspeeding events for a particular trip.

Why is the app showing a wrong route on the map for my trip?

A

The Parrot app relies on the GPS signal from the smartphone and services from Google to trace the route of your trip on the map.

Many things can affect the GPS signal. Common causes include: 

     . Satellite signal blockage due to buildings, bridges, trees, etc.on the trip route

     . Indoor or underground use, for eg., inside a multi-level underground parking

    . Signals getting reflected off buildings or walls ("multipath") for eg., in downtown areas with a lot of high rise buildings in   close vicinity.

Therefore, if the GPS signal reception is very erratic it can lead to errors in the Google service which depicts the route on the map.

Why do I see overspeeding events on a trip although I drove well within the speed limit throughout

A

The Parrot app relies on Google database for providing speed limits for a given location. At some places for eg., service roads, the actual speed limit may be more stringent than what is commonly construed limit on the main road and hence an overspeed event may be recorded. There could be other constraints in getting accurate GPS signals as enumerated earlier which may also lead to inaccurate overspeeding events being recorded. Such errors are normally very rare and one such trip will not affect the overall driving score significantly.

My trip did not generate score even when my internet/mobile data was ON?

A

Trip Score is calculated based on GPS data. For GPS data to be collected the location services of the device must be ON. Also, the app needs permission to use location services in the background to be able to collect the data. Please ensure that all the necessary permissions are given.               

In some cases insufficient data is received by the server due to factors enumerated earlier. Hence the score for such trips is not generated.

I keep forgetting to “Start” and “End” the trips. Is there any solution to this?

A

The Parrot app has 3 modes to manage the trips as follows

1) Manual mode: You need to manually Start and End each trip. This allows you to choose the trips that you want to be rated and the ones you do not want to be rated

2) Auto Start: In this mode the app determines the Start and End of the trip automatically based on your activity using our AI engine

3) Auto Start using Bluetooth: You need to sync your car Bluetooth with the smartphone. Once done, the Start and End of the trip is determined by the starting and stopping of the Bluetooth.

What is Harsh Braking?

A

Reduction of the speed of your vehicle which is deemed to be sudden and therefore risky is defined as a Harsh Braking event. Harsh Braking may cause a total or partial loss of user’s control of the vehicle increasing the risk of an accident.

What is Harsh Acceleration?

A

Increase in the speed of your vehiclewhich is deemed to be sudden and therefore risky is defined as a Harsh Acceleration event. Harsh Acceleration may lead to loss or reduction of user’s control on the vehicle increasing the risk of an accident.

What is Cornering?

A

Excessive speed while taking a turn, taking sharp turns or changing lanes while driving are examples of Cornering. It can lead to reduction or loss of control.  This leads to the increase in the risk of an accident.

How am I rated on Focus?

A

Focus is a measure of how focussed or distracted your driving is. It determines if you are engaged in activities that will distract your attention away from road. For eg., the use of mobile phones while driving is a serious distraction causing a significant increase in the risk of accidents. So, your Focus is rated on your mobile phone usage while driving. If you do not use your mobile while driving, the rating is high.

How am I rated on Safety?

A

Safety is a measure of the risk you pose to yourself and your surroundings while driving. Safety rating is based on the analysis of your speeding and cornering habits. Overspeeding and Cornering  adversely affect this rating while gradual acceleration and smooth lane changes help you score well.

How am I rated on Consistency?

A

Consistency is a measure of how smooth and consistent you are in acceleration and braking. Harsh Braking and Harsh Acceleration are statistically significant predictors of future crashes. Hence avoiding Harsh Braking and Harsh Acceleration helps you score well on the Consistency parameter.

How is Day and Night Driving calculated?

A

The Parrot app considers driving between 7 AM to 7 PM as Day driving and 7 PM to 7 AM as Night driving.

Does the Parrot app work in Offline mode?

A

Yes, the Parrot app supports offline trips as long asthe GPS is ON. However, lack of data reduces the accuracy or even the availability of some of the functionalities like tracking the exact route taken for a trip.

Will the usage of Parrot app drain my smartphone’s battery?

A

We do our best to make sure that the Parrot app is as battery friendly as possible. Many users report no, or very little, change in the battery life. The good news? Any short-term inconvenience can lead to big savings for safe drivers.

What is the point of using the Parrot app if I am a bad driver?

A

There are several reasons to use the Parrot app even if or especially if you are bad driver.

   a. Parrot app provides you personalised tips to improve your driving and consequently your score.

   b. A bad score in one quarter does not affect your chances of getting full score in the subsequent quarters. Even if you get a low score in one quarter you can improve your driving and get all the potential rewards in the subsequent quarters!

Does Parrot provide road side assistance service? If yes, how does it work?

A

Yes, Parrot and Tugu provide an excellent road side assistance. You can get in touch with tia, the road side assistance service of Tugu, right from the app. A friendly support staff will engage with you and provide all the assistance possible.

If I get into an accident, will I lose the cashback offered for good driving?

A

If you file an insurance claim any further P-Rewards on your policy become unavailable. However, all the P-Rewards that you have earned till then remain valid and redeemable. Further, all your standard policy coverage and benefits continue unencumbered.

How do I redeem my P-Rewards?

A

Please go to the Rewards section from the Home screen and choose the preferred redemption partner, i.e., either redeem as a cashback into your LinkAja account or redeem vouchers from Sodexo. To redeem as a cashback from LinkAja you need to have a LinkAja account registered to the same mobile phone number as the one used on the Parrot app. Please familiarise yourself with the detailed terms and conditions of the respective redemption partners. Please select the number of P-Rewards you want to redeem and click “Redeem”. You need to redeem a minimum of 100 P-Rewards in one transaction. Your redemption request is processed within 2 working days.

Is there a validity for my P-Rewards?

A

End of every 90 days period from your policy purchase you are entitled to P-Rewards subject to completion of all the driving milestones. P-Rewards have a validity of 1 year from date of their issue.

Can I buy additional P-Rewards?

A

No, currently we do not support purchase of P-Rewards.

Can I gift my P-Rewards to someone else?

A

No, P-Rewards are not transferable.

What can I do if I do not have 100 P-Rewards to redeem?

A

You can wait till the next quarter and accumulate more P-Rewards.

What are the various milestones that I need to meet to earn P-Rewards?

A

To earn P-Rewards you need to meet 3 milestones every quarter as follows: Trips: You need to complete a certain number of valid trips to complete this milestone. Unless you complete this threshold number of valid trips the Parrot Analytics engine is unable to rate your driving behaviour holistically. A trip is valid when a) you are the driver/rider of the vehicle b) Trip lasts for at least 2 minutes c) You cover a distance of at least 0.5 km in the trip. Distance: You need to complete a certain minimum distance over your valid trips to complete this milestone. Unless you complete this threshold distance the Parrot Analytics engine is unable to rate your driving behaviour holistically. Claim free days: You need to drive safe and ensure that there are no claims filed in a given quarter to be eligible for earning P-Rewards.

Why do I see different Trip Score for 2 trips which are approximately of same duration and with similar harsh incidents?

A

Trip Score is calculated using a very sophisticated and a comprehensive algorithm. It takes into account over 50 variables to compute the Trip Score. So, while 2 trips may seem of nearly same duration and with similar count of harsh incidents the resulting score may be very different because there may be a variety of variables on which the 2 trips may differ. For eg., one trip may have been almost entirely a day trip with the other may have been a partly day and partly night trip or even entirely a night trip. In such a case the relative weights of the harsh incidents will change significantly; an overspeed event in day time is relatively less risky as compared to the same overspeed event at night. Or, overspeed even in day time in good weather will be relatively less risky as compared with the same overspeed event if the weather conditions are adverse, say while raining. Further, there are other factors like in one trip an overspeed event may have lasted for 1 minute while in the other trip an overspeed event may have gone on for much longer. So, while the count of overspeed may show as 1 in both the trips the 2nd trip with the longer overspeed event will get a lower score, all other things remaining the same.

What is the difference between a Trip Score, Parrot Driving Score and Parrot Quarter Score?

A

A Trip Score is a score assigned to an individual trip. Parrot Driving Score is the weighted score of the trips within a particular quarter. It keeps changing as you keep taking trips within the quarter. Parrot Quarter Score on the other hand is a weighted score of all the valid trips you have done during the entire quarter. Parrot Quarter Score determines how many P-Rewards you will earn at the end of the quarter.

What is the value of 1 P-Reward?

1 P-Reward is currently valued at Rp. 100.

What does the Driving Analysis dashboard show? How is it helpful?

A

The Driving Analysis is a value-added dashboard provided only to Parrot insurance policy holders. It helps you understand your driving behaviour in a snapshot. It also provides personalised tips on how you can improve your driving behaviour. The Parrot Analytics engine provides a Trip Score which is calculated using a very sophisticated and a comprehensive algorithm. It takes into account over 50 variables to compute the Trip Score. So, while Trip Score boils down many variables of driving to 1 number, it does not provide actionable insights on how to improve the score or your driving behaviour. This is where the Driving Analysis screen is helpful. It provides insights on your driving along 3 very important and easy-to-understand parameters; Focus, Safety and Consistency. As you take trips the Driving Analysis dashboard also displays a Parrot Driving Score which is a consolidated score of all the valid trips taken during the quarter. The Driving Analysis dashboard not only provides a Parrot Driving Score, it also updates your driving behaviour along these factors and the scales indicate how good or bad you are doing on each of these parameters along with tips for improving on them. In short, if you keep referring to the Driving Analysis screen regularly you will know how to improve your Trip Score and consequently the Parrot Driving Score which in turn means more P-Rewards end of the quarter!

Why does my milestones counter get reset to 0 after every quarter?

A

The Parrot Rewards or P-Rewards program is a modular program to ensure maximum possible benefit to our esteemed users. This means that you get P-Rewards only on the basis of your Parrot Quarter Score and driving behaviour for a particular quarter. The benefit of this approach is that your previous quarter’s score has no influence on current quarter’s score. If by chance you did not have a very good Parrot Quarter Score in the previous quarter, it does not affect your chances to get even a full 100 Parrot Quarter Score this quarter. In line with this policy every quarter the milestone counter is reset to 0. You start afresh and get a chance to get earn full potential of P-Rewards for that quarter.

Can Parrot compute CO2 emission per trip? 

A

Yes, Parrot computes your CO2 emissions per trip using the GHG protocol.

What are the benefits of the knowing the CO2 emissions?

A

Knowing your CO2 emission or footprint is a key step in building awareness on the emissions. It leads to several benefits such as reduction of engine idling leading to reduced fuel usage and consequently reducing CO2 emissions. It can also bring about route optimisation in terms of shortest routes or routes with minimum number of stoppages or most efficient traffic conditions etc.

Why is my Trip Score zero?

A

The Trip Score is generated only when the data from a trip that is collected by your smartphone gets synced with our backend server. The data from your trip gets saved locally on your smartphone as the trip ends. If this data is not synced with the server for any reason, for eg., lack of network coverage, you may see a zero score. Once your smartphone is in network area or connected to a wi-fi the trip data will get synced and the Trip Score will be generated.

How can I check the claim status?

A

In the menu, click on "Claims" and then go to "Track Claim" section. All the claims are listed along with their current information and status.

What is the Total Loss Only Coverage?

A

The Total Loss Only (TLO) coverage offers protection against risk of vehicle theft and damage caused by accident or fire exceeding 75% of the market value of the bike. Currently Parrot offer only TLO coverage on bikes.

What is Comprehensive Coverage ?

A

Comprehensive coverage protects your car against damage resulting from an accident (minor and major) or from theft. Currently Parrot offers only comprehensive coverage for cars.

What is Third Party Liability coverage?

A

Coverage purchased by an insured (the first party) from an insurer (the second party) for protection against the claims of another (the third) party is called Third Party Liability.

Why is my plate number showing invalid?

A

The plate number needs to be entered in the valid format. It has to start with a number and can contain up to 4 numbers and 3 alphabets

Why do I see "Oops! Trip data not found" message?

A

This message is displayed when sufficient data for the trip has not been captured by the smartphone. In such cases the Trip Score is not generated.

I paid for the Insurance policy but I can't see a policy in the "Policies" section of "My Policies"

A

Once you have paid for an insurance quotation you need to upload certain details like pictures of the vehicle, registration documents etc. Parrot will check the uploaded details and only then a policy is issued. Till then the quotation it is shown under the "Quotations" section of "My Policies" with a "Payment Success" status. This means that your insurance coverage has not yet started.

I can't find my vehicle model in the app

A

Some vehicle brands are not insured by Parrot. Please contact our support team for further assistance

I can't remember the manufacturing year of the vehicle

A

Manufacturing year of the vehicle can be found on the registration certificate (STNK) of the vehicle

I am unable to find the manufacturing year of my vehicle model

A

If your vehicle is older than 8 years, it is not eligible for PHYD policy. Please contact our support team for further assistance.

How do I report a claim?

A

Go to the main menu of the Parrot app. Click on 'Claim Insurance' and fill all the details. Once done, click on 'Register your Claim'. The app will confirm that the claim has been registered.

Why have I not received password reset link on my entered email id?

A

Password reset link can only be sent to email id registered with the Parrot app at the time of signup.

Does “Auto Start” work continuously?

A

Yes, the "Auto Start" function works continously in the background. This is required to detect activity and consequently to start and end a trip.

If I encounter issues when recording the trip who should I report it to?

Yes, you can create a private Campaign. Go to the dashboard and select “Campaign”; the system will take you to “Driving Campaign” screen. Go to 'Create Campaign', fill in the required details and you are all set to start a new Campaign

How to join a Public Campaign?

A

Go to the dashboard and select “Campaign”; the system will take you to the “Driving Campaign” screen. Go to “View Campaigns” then to the “Public” section. It will display a list of public Campaigns. You can join the Campaign of your choice if it is open for public, else you need to provide the “Campaign Code”' provided by the Campaign organisers.

Why does Parrot crash?

Can I buy Insurance for another Individual?

A

Yes, you can buy an insurance for your friend or family member.

If I buy policy for another individual, how will that indvidual be able to earn P-Rewards?

A

P-Rewards are associated with a Parrot account on the Parrot app. If you buy a Parrot policy for someone else, they cannot earn P-Rewards. To earn P-Rewards the person needs to be register themselves on the Parrot app and buy policy from the app.

What Qualifies me as a good driver?

A

Good driving habits such as smooth braking, driving within speed limits, smooth acceleration, taking smooth turns and not receiving or making calls while driving are some of the key criteria which make you a good driver. Basically, follow the rules of the road and be mindful of other drivers when you’re driving.

How do I know if my trip is fairly rated?

A

You can replay your trip by selecting a particular trip in the “View Trip” section. Trip replay shows on the map all the harsh events that occurred during the trip. This will provide you with a detailed insight into you driving and reassure you of the rating.

How do renewals work?

A

The Parrot app will alert you well in advance about the policy expiration. You can renew the insurance policy from the Parrot app with just a few clicks and keep enjoying the fantastic rewards and the opportunity to have a positive environmental impact that only Parrot Safe Driver policy can offer!

What if I want to change my insurance coverage?

No, you cannot change your cover after the policy is purchased.

Why is my plate number showing invalid?

A

The plate code format entered might be incorrect. The correct format is alpha-numeric with maximum length of 9 characters

You can still monitor the trips as long as the smartphone is in the car.

A deductible is an amount that you need to bear from the total claim amount. You can find the deductible amount in your policy document.
